The Official RCS tartan was designed in 2016 by Stuart Harris-Logan, with the assistance of Brian Halley at Slanj, to commemorate the 170th anniversary of RCS. The tartan is made up of three constituent colours which represent the institution’s brand colour, the oldest school (School of Music, 1890, purple) and the newest school (Research, 2000, clay grey). The tartan was officially launched in January 2017.
